Dear Saint Elizabeth, the material comforts of courtly life  shared by you and your husband allowed you to accomplish great good through unceasing charity to the poor.  You were poor in spirit, faithful to your husband and fully consecrated to your Divine Bridegroom. 

Grant your help to widows and widowers and keep them faithful to their heavenly Lord.  Strengthen them by your example and teach them how to cope with their loss and to make use of their time in the service of God our Lord. 

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Amen.
